The weekly cost of water for the Usratuna school in Juba is very high. During the rainy season, 6,000 litres of water costs around $31 per week, and during the dry season, 9,000 litres costs $46. These are very large sums, especially considering that almost half of South Sudan’s population lives on less than two dollars a day!

At Usratuna School, children can drink water for free, which is unfortunately not the norm in South Sudan. The new pump, which we installed thanks to our donors, makes this possible!
